“PHIKO” THE GAME INSECT: CHILDHOOD DAYS MEMORY

PHIKO” THE GAME INSECT: CHILDHOOD DAYS MEMORY

Here I am going to introduce you with a flying insect, that we use to play along in our childhood days back in the village life. Have you ever encountered something that reminds you of your childhood days, lately? It happened to me few days back, when I encountered with this beautiful flying insect/bug, while I visit a place known as Kangla fort at Imphal, Manipur, India with few of friends during the weekend.

Kangla is a beautiful place to visit contains historical forts inside and very beautiful environment with variety of trees on which epiphytic orchids and ferns clinging on some trees, this time I haven’t notice any orchids but during my first visit it was there. Also, Cycas plants were there and this time the Cycas plants have bearing lots of fruits on its middle part surrounded by crown like leaves all around. Me and my friends had lot of fun on that day, meanwhile my friends were doing photoshoots I went near a tree which was a little bit interior on which I met this “Phiko” many where there seating on quiet and shady tree, seeing it I dive back in my village childhood days for a moment, as I started taking pictures of it the security called me out.” Hey! you can’t be there”, so, I was back with the blur pictures of it to keep it as a memory.

I sometimes wonder why our parents never handed us dolls. But whatsoever, the reason was I feel our childhood was the best, because we enjoy playing outdoor collecting all the bottle leads to make a kitchen utensil as part of our home play, collecting shampoo sachets just because it has picture with long hair lady on it as part of play decoration and colleting the circinate fern heads as vegetable we thought of it as cabbage also the fern bulb as potato and playing with soil etc. Our parents were off to work each day morning to till evening down and sometimes they brought us this “Phiko”, if they found it on their way back home at evening, and we would be so happy as if we had a doll or something. We used to tie this “Phiko” with a thread and then fly them around as a mini Aeroplan or kite.

It was such a lovely childhood day, I think every girl/boy from village have their own childhood stories, most of the time I am shocked that how can I remember all this childhood things? Whereas at present most of the things I don’t use to remember much, however I even remember what I used to dream back in my childhood but at present barely manage to remember my dreams, this is strange!
